Hepatitis D
Hepatitis D, or delta hepatitis (HDV), is a form of hepatitis that occurs only in patients who are carriers or have been recently infected with hepatitis B. The hepatitis D virus (HDV) relies on the replication of the hepatitis B (HBV) and cannot replicate without it. The disease seems to spread primarily among intravenous drug users who share needles. It usually progresses to chronic hepatitis. The only treatment is through the prevention of hepatitis B (HBV).
